Tesla’s Fart Mode is a part of the “Emissions Testing Mode” found in the Tesla Toybox, a collection of fun and quirky features designed to entertain. This feature allows drivers and passengers to play a variety of flatulence sounds on demand, adding a touch of humor to their journey.
If you ever dreamed of hearing many different types of farts consolidated in a car feature, then the Tesla Fart Mode is for you. The Fart Mode comes with a variety of sound options, each with quirky names describing many different types of fart sounds like “Not a Fart,” “Short Shorts Ripper,” “Falcon Heavy,” “Neurastink,” and more.
Or you can use the “I’m So Random” preset that puts Tesla’s AI capabilities to good use by letting the car choose which fart sounds to use. You can also set it to play when you press the left steering scroll wheel, adding a whole new level of fun to your driving experience.
Accessing the Fart Mode is quite simple. You just need to tap on the Application Launcher on the touchscreen, select ‘Toybox,’ and then ‘Emissions Testing Mode.’ From there, you can select the type of fart sound you want and even choose which seat it will come from. It’s sort of like the modern version of the classic whoopie cushion fart prank, which can be a hit for kids or just about anyone who enjoys toilet humor.

The Recall
However, the “fun police” (Elon’s own words) had to step in because the feature violates federal safety standards.
Tesla has issued a recall on certain Tesla models and years with the Pedestrian Warning System (PWS). The recall was to turn off the Boombox feature when the vehicle is in Drive, Neutral, or Reverse mode. This is likely due to safety concerns, as the feature could distract or confuse pedestrians and other drivers.
CNN reports:
“The Boombox feature may hinder pedestrians’ ability to hear a mandatory warning sound, increasing the risk of a crash. The pedestrian warnings are required in all electric and hybrid vehicles, the NHTSA said, because EVs are quieter than cars with internal combustion engines.”
Currently, the Boombox feature is still available when the vehicle is in Park. However, Tesla owners are advised to check local laws before using Boombox in public places, as regulations may vary.
