Half the fun of being a car fan is being able to drive them, while the other half is the delight of admiring such marvels of design and engineering, even if there’s little to no chance you can’t own them. That’s the appeal of some of the finest car models throughout history, and some of them are produced in limited numbers, adding to their desirability.

While the rarest car in the world is only accessible by ultra-wealthy individuals, hardcore collectors, or both, it doesn’t mean we can’t appreciate them from afar.

So what’s the rarest car in the world? Today, we present you with seven of the rarest car models of all time. Here are some of the most expensive and exclusive vehicles, where the opportunity to buy them is a privilege in itself. Let’s take a look.

1. 1962 Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato

  • Units made: 19
  • Price: $14.3 million

Classic Aston Martins are some of the most desirable, expensive, and exclusive cars of all time, and the 1962 DB4 GT Zagato is a shining example. The 1962 Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato is a reimagined variant of the beautiful DB4 and was modified by a specialized Italian auto firm, Zagato Works.

The 1962 Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato housed a 3.7-liter aluminum twin-spark 6-cylinder engine, which was more efficient than the standard DB4 GT engine. It was only made in the dark red color called Peony. This work of art generated 314 horsepower and offered a 0-60 performance in 6.1 seconds.

The 1962 Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato was an award-winning car for its exquisite beauty and panache. There were only 19 available units made, and it will cost prospective buyers a staggering $14.3 million.

2. 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO

  • Units made: 39
  • Price: $48.4 million

We can fill out this list of the rarest car in the world with just Ferrari models. As far as rare, money-can’t-buy Ferraris go, the 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO is undoubtedly one of the most notable. It’s the very definition of automotive refinement and sophistication.

Released in 1962, only 39 units were made, significantly contributing to this car’s exceptional rarity. It is said that Enzo Ferrari himself approved who could own this beautiful car, so it’s a pretty exclusive club. In June 2018, the 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO became one of the most expensive cars in history by fetching a record-selling price of $70 million. Today, you and your oil magnate friends can drop $48.4 million on a mint unit.

3. Pagani Huayra BC

  • Units made: 20
  • Price: $2.5-4 million

Pagani is known for their rarest, most valuable hypercars, and the Huayra is the new successor to the wildly successful Zonda. With that said, the Pagani Huayra BC is the track-focused version of the Huayra sports car, which boasts out-of-this-world stability, control, and performance.

The Huayra BC also featured a lighter titanium exhaust system and new aluminum alloy wheels. It’s powered by a 6.0-liter V-12 engine courtesy of Mercedes AMG, which can crank out a dizzying 816 hp and 811 lb-ft of torque. It can also hit 0-60 mph in 2.2 seconds and a max speed of 236 mph.

With millions in asking price and only 20 units made, anyone who wants to snag the Pagani Huayra BC will need more than just money.

4. Bugatti Divo

  • Units made: 40
  • Price: $5.4 million

The Bugatti Divo is the more exotic and limited version of the famed Bugatti Chiron hypercar. It’s a given that it’s a high-speed car, but its primary selling point is its extreme aerodynamics.

Weighing 77 lbs less than the Chiron, the Bugatti Divo, and its enhanced driving dynamics will easily outshine its predecessor on the track. The Bugatti Divo is powered by an 8.0-liter W-16 engine and four turbochargers, providing a ridiculous 1,500 horsepower and mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Bugatti claims the Divo can hit 0-60 mph in 2.4 seconds and is the first coach-built supercar for challenging corners.

However, with only 40 units made and a $5.4 million price tag, the Bugatti Divo is worthy of the rarest car in the world title.

As you might expect, the Boat Tail’s interior and exterior are a feast for the senses. The attention to detail is unreal. It even includes watches manufactured by Bovet Fleurier and comes with its cocktail tables and a complete set of Christofle tableware.
