The Kia Rio measures in at just 172.6 inches in length, making a tiny but capable option for those only interested in the smallest cars. You’re also sure to appreciate what the Rio offers in the fuel economy department.
In the city, you get an impressive 33 miles to the gallon. And on the highway, Kia’s Rio is capable of delivering 41 miles per gallon. You can nab this little cruiser for $16,050. It’s a bit pricier than our previous entries, but it makes up for it by offering stellar handling and responsive steering.

4. Toyota Yaris
A new Toyota for just $15,650? The Yaris delivers a sleek and stylish appearance while remaining compact and sporty. Measuring just 171.2 inches in length, the Yaris is sure to impress you with its incredible driving capabilities.
You can look forward to getting 32 miles a gallon in the city while the highway kicks it up to 40 miles per gallon. Like Hyundai’s Accent, Toyota includes a rearview camera system for added safety. You’re also getting forward collision warning, to boot.
5. MINI Cooper Clubman
Now, this is the car you want if you’re concerned about storage space. The MINI Cooper Clubman might be the smallest car on the road, but it’s pretty close. Measuring 168.3 inches long, the Clubman is noticeably smaller than most, ensuring that you’re well within the range of small cars.
Mileage is also within a reasonable range, offering 25 miles in the city and 35 on the highway. This is admittedly lower than our previous entries, but you can’t beat the sporty character of the Clubman. If you want to turn heads, this car will do it. Just be prepared to spend a bit more, as it currently costs $29,000.
6. Honda Fit
The Honda Fit trumps the MINI Cooper Clubman in the size department, measuring in at a minute 161.8 inches long. This vehicle is compact, to be sure. And thanks to its smaller size, you can look forward to stellar mileage on the road.
City miles equate to 33 per gallon, while highway driving offers 40 miles per gallon. It’s worth noting that the acceleration on the Fit isn’t the best in the world. But many consumers who are looking for a compact vehicle likely just need a reliable commuter. And given its price tag of $16,190, you’ll agree that the Honda Fit is a bargain on any level.
