Electric vehicles may be on the rise, but most Americans are still driving vehicles with the good old internal combustion engines. Until the electrification transition happens, consumers remain beholden to the network of fuel pumps across the country to keep their cars, trucks, and SUVs operational.

If you’ve been filling up your vehicle for many years now, there’s a good chance you’ve come across Meijer gas stations. How much are Meijer gas prices nowadays? Is it good quality fuel? Are there ways to help you save on a Meijer gas pump?

For today’s blog post, we highlight Meijer gas and its current prices, along with some other things you need to know about the brand. Let’s get to it.

How Much Does Meijer Gas Cost?

Meijer is an American supercenter chain that originated in Michigan. Meijer is credited as the pioneer of the supercenter concept in 1962, and the chain mainly operates in the Midwestern United States. Despite being one of the largest privately-owned companies in America, many people are unfamiliar with Meijer.

How are Meijer gas prices as of late? To determine the current fuel prices of Meijer, we’ll refer to GasBuddy and pick out a few places in the Midwest with Meijer gas stations. Hopefully, this gives you an idea of what to expect with Meijer gas prices.

In Lima, OH, Meijer offers their regular fuel at a per-gallon price of $3.25. Unfortunately, this Meijer price is hardly competitive and doesn’t even break into the top ten for Lima. The lowest prices in the city come from Clark at $3.16 per gallon, and Sam’s Club and Speedway come in second-place with $3.17 per gallon.

Moving to Normal, IL, the regular gas price for Meijer is at $3.89 per gallon, and again, it failed to be in the top ten cheapest fuel prices. People from Normal enjoy a $3.59 per gallon price from Sam’s Club and $3.69 from places like Shell, Qik-n-EZ, and Freedom gas.

In Ann Arbor, MI, Meijer gas prices are a bit lower at $3.59 per gallon. As you might expect, it’s not a very competitive price. After all, Meijer is competing with the likes of Circle K at $3.05 per gallon and Costco at $3.24 per gallon.

We’ve looked at a dozen more places, and we’ve come to the conclusion that Meijer gas prices are not the cheapest. To Meijer’s credit, many customer feedback said its gas stations are well-lit, clean, and properly maintained.

Is Meijer Gas Good Quality?

If you’re looking for quality gas, Meijer is a great choice with its Top Tier gasoline. According to the promotional material, Meijer offers high-performance detergent gasoline that runs cleaner than ordinary gasoline.

As a Top Tier licensee, it means that Meijer gas meets the high standards of the Top Tier program and doesn’t use organometallic additives such as MMT or Ferrocene. It’s easy to think of the Top Tier designation as a marketing ploy, but it actually makes a difference.

Why Should You Care About Top Tier Gas?

According to a study by the American Automobile Association (AAA), it would be wise for consumers to factor in the quality of the gasoline they buy. AAA used an independent fuel analysis testing to conclude that Top Tier gas is worth the money.

Based on the results, Top Tier certified gas has 19 times fewer carbon deposits on engine components, including the injector, intake valves, and combustion chamber. AAA also determined that Top Tier gas has a cleansing effect that minimizes valve deposits by 45 to 72% based on 5k-mile intervals.

In other words, Top Tier gas not only helps with improving performance but longevity as well. It’s just a cleaner gas that’s kinder to your vehicle components.

How to Save on Meijer Gas Prices?

Like other gas companies and supermarket chains, saving on Meijer fuel means you have to sign up for its rewards program – in this case, it’s the Meijer mPerks. However, this program is quite limited because you don’t actually accumulate points that go toward fuel savings. In fact, you don’t directly receive fuel discounts through mPerks.

If you want to save on Meijer fuel costs, you have to get a Meijer Mastercard or Meijer Credit Card. The main difference is that you may only use the Credit Card to purchase from Meijer stores.

With either card, you’re entitled to a 10¢ discount per gallon when filling up at any Meijer gas station. You also receive a $10 reward for every $750 spent using the Meijer cards. In conjunction with the mPerks program, you can make the most out of your rewards and have more savings, and not just with gas.

Basically, your gas fill-ups are always 10¢ cheaper per gallon if you use a Meijer Credit Card. Obviously, this is a viable option if you’re a regular Meijer shopper. Unfortunately, the biggest downside is the fact that you have to sign up for a credit card, which most people aren’t so keen to do.

However, if you’re willing to sign up for the credit card and are a loyal Meijer customer, you’ll have access to some of the cheapest gas prices around. We just wish there were more ways to save on Meijer gas without opening a new credit line.

WHAT TO DO IF A DEALER REFUSES TO CANCEL EXTENDED WARRANTY

Car buying can occasionally be frustrating, especially if you’re purchasing your vehicle through a dealership. We’re here to tell you how to navigate a situation in which a dealer refuses to cancel your extended warranty.

Buying Gas for Less

Like it or not, convenience is the enemy of cheaper gas prices. People often fill up their gas based on what’s convenient and do not pay that much attention to the costs. We often think that it’s just a few cents, but they’ll surely add up in the long run.

One of the best ways to save at the pump is to keep track of fuel prices. Nowadays, fuel prices continue to increase and often fluctuate, so use a tool like GasBuddy to stay on top of gas trends. Just a quick search of the cheapest gas prices in your area can help you save money on gas over time.
