The Nissan Leaf has been around since 2011, making its way into consumer’s hearts and earning it a top spot on the list of the best electric vehicles of its time. On one single charge, this power-packed vehicle can travel an average of 84 miles. While you can find a used Nissan Leaf from back in 2011, shoot for one that dates back to 2016 instead.

The 2016 model of the Nissan Leaf scored better battery life and came with a Level-3 charge port. You can find them from anywhere between $8,000 and $12,000 used, making it an affordable and durable option for those that are looking for an electric vehicle.

The Focus has been one of the most economical cars from the long-time car experts, catching the attention of many that we’re looking for something that wouldn’t break the bank. While some of the earlier models only got an average of 76 miles on a charge, Ford improved in later years, which is why you might want to look for one around 2017 and 2018.

The 2017 used Ford Focus gets around 115 miles on a single charge and even comes with a Level-3 charger. Sadly, you won’t find any after 2018, as the electric Focus is no longer something that Ford is making at the moment.

Volkswagen e-Golf

The Volkswagen Golf is one of the brand’s most loved cars, around for several years. Over time, Volkswagen took the model and added an electric motor back in 2015. The limited number in production and the lower average miles per charge make that year one that you might want to avoid.

Instead, go for 2017, as the company went back to the drawing board and started enhancing the capacity. After that, they not only added a new way to charge but also amped up the mileage to 125 miles in one charge. You may be able to get your hands one between $10,500 and $12,500.

Kia Soul

Kia took their time in the design of their engine and came a little later than the competition. They added their electric motor on one of their trendiest models, the Kia Soul. It has seating for 5 and, though it’s a larger vehicle, can still get up to 93 miles in one charge.

Kia went out of their way on the design and featured modern adornments that make this car modern enough for the streets today. A used one from the year 2014 and up runs from $11,000 to $15,000.

BMW i3

BMW is always on the radar, known for its super releases that blow the competition out of the water. Though their 2014 version only got 81 miles in one charge, it was still loaded with features that helped it keep its luxury feel and title. The first release of the bunch came with options, some of which made the price tag skyrocket.

BMW made the Level-3 charging port standard later on and even added navigation and parking assist too. Due to the popularity and the rise in demand for electric, you can find a used BMW i3 starting at $14,500 and going up to $19,000.
