The company originated as Horch and the Audiwerke, founded by the engineer Austin Horch. He partnered with DKW and Wanderer manufacturers to form the Auto Union in 1932. The Audi company we recognize today began in the 1960s when Volkswagen and Daimler-Benz bought the Auto Union. This company introduced the Audi F103 series in 1965 and merged Auto Union with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969 to form the company we know today.
