The Silverado has a lineup of powerful engines that all achieve over 20 mpg on the highway, and the mid-level 5.3-liter V8 even is best in its class for 22 mpg on the highway. High levels of options can take this from an affordable work truck all the way to a near-luxury vehicle with options that even include crash avoidance systems that use seat vibrations for alerts. Off-road capabilities are enhanced with an optional full 4x4 drivetrain with low-range transfer case. This four-door version has seating for up to six people (optional front center console reduces capacity to five) and the rear seats have over a half-foot more legroom than double cab models. Because this one has the standard box, it is ideal for those who need to haul both large items and full-size adults. This Silverado was awarded the North American Truck of the Year for 2014, and it is the highest rated pickup by Consumer Reports.
