This generation of the Audi A3 is one of the few luxury sports cars to be offered as a compact five-person, five-door hatchback. This doesn't just stop at a premium brand name, the Consumer Reports recommended car is versatile with options like all-wheel drive and a 42 mpg highway turbo diesel motor made available during its production run. Audi still makes A3s, but it moved into the compact luxury sedan class staring in 2014.
